CEREC Dentistry

What Is CEREC Dentistry?

CEREC dentistry is an extraordinary technique that uses Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology to perform restorative dental work on patients.

It combines advanced computer software with an on-site milling machine that enables dentists to scan your teeth, create a mould and have you fitted for it – all in one visit.

One of the biggest benefits of using CEREC dentistry is the use of specialist ceramic for restorations. Ceramic is a bio-inert material that’s similar to porcelain. Not only is it safe, strong and durable, it mimics the natural physical properties of a real tooth. We’re able to match the ceramic restoration to the exact colour of your natural teeth so you won’t even be able to tell the difference.

The use of ceramic has eliminated the need for metal in fillings. For over 100 years, dentists in Australia have been filling teeth with amalgam which contains the potentially harmful substance of mercury. At StarKlinics, we never use amalgam for fillings.

CEREC dentistry allows us to repair your teeth using ceramic quickly and conveniently. Walk-in with a damaged tooth – walk out with a restored tooth that’s better than new!

Discover CEREC
On The Gold Coast

It’s possible that you may not have heard of CEREC dentistry. While it’s a widely used dental method across the UK and USA, few Australian dentists practice it due to the high cost of equipment required. At StarKlinics, we offer CEREC dentistry to Gold Coast patients for all of your restorative dental needs.

CEREC dentistry is an acronym that comes from the first letters of the words CEramic REConstruction. CEREC dentistry uses the latest in digital dental technologies to perform precision restorations using ceramic in a single visit, saving you both time and money.

Our highly-skilled dentists use CEREC dentistry for restorative dental work such as veneers, dental crowns, fillings, inlays, onlays and bridges to repair chipped, cracked or decayed teeth. Often, we can even restore severely broken down teeth that other dentists would normally just extract!

What used to take multiple trips to the dentist has now been cut down to just one visit. As a holistic digital dental clinic, we’re leading the way in Gold Coast dentistry that’s pain-free, stress-free and single visit. Our holistic approach to dental care means that we only use gentle, minimally-invasive methods to treat not just your teeth, but your overall health and wellbeing.

All of our treatments are needle-free and can be completed in one day. Give us a call or book online to find out how we can help you today.

How Does CEREC Dentistry Work?

The CEREC dentistry procedure is simple, pain-free and greatly speeds up the process of restoring a tooth. Conventional restorative dentistry typically requires 2-3 trips to the dentist. This involves filling the affected tooth or teeth, making an impression, creating a mould, putting in a temporary cap for a couple of weeks and finally being fitted for the permanent crown.

CEREC dentistry has cut this time down to an incredible 1-2 hours for most procedures. No messy impressions or temporary caps are needed.

When you come in to see us, we’ll take some 3d scans of your mouth which produces a precise, high-definition 3d model of your teeth. The images are sent wirelessly to our CEREC milling machine in the clinic which will perfectly mould your new tooth while you watch. The end result will flawlessly mimic your natural teeth, even down to the exact colour!

The final step is to glaze and seamlessly bond the restored tooth – a process that will strengthen the tooth and seal it at the same time.
The entire process is fast, comfortable and pain-free. We can even achieve multiple restorations in a single visit.

Who Can Benefit From Having A CEREC Restoration?

If you’re suffering with decayed, broken, cracked or chipped teeth, you can benefit from CEREC dentistry. It’s a popular method for those needing fillings, crowns and veneers due to its realistic appearance and its ability to be achieved in a matter of hours.

It’s also a fantastic option for our older patients who may have had poor restorative procedures done in the past that are now failing or falling out. Often, these people had conventional dentistry performed years ago that used traditional methods to repair teeth with fillings, crowns and veneers. CEREC dentistry can replace the old restorations with a metal-free and stronger alternative for a more superior and long-lasting result.

Veneers On The Gold Coast

Our veneers are thin layers of tooth-coloured ceramic shells designed to slip over the front surface of a damaged tooth to protect it and give you a healthy, radiant smile. They’re commonly used when patients have cracked, chipped or broken tooth and wish to improve its aesthetic appearance and function.

CEREC dentistry has revolutionised the way we can fit a patient for veneers. The procedure used to be a lengthy and sometimes painful one. It involved taking numerous impressions of a person’s mouth that were both invasive and uncomfortable. Then, a temporary replacement would be fitted onto the tooth while the veneer was designed off-site. The patient would need to return a couple of weeks later to be fitted for the veneer.

With CEREC dentistry, you can have your veneers designed and fitted in one day at our clinic. After we have taken 3d scans of your tooth, our milling machine will expertly craft your veneer from a solid block of ceramic before we bond it to your tooth.

Our CEREC veneers are colour-matched to the rest of your teeth and are designed to be extremely durable. With proper care and good oral hygiene, you can expect your ceramic veneers to last decades.

Dental Crowns On The Gold Coast

Like veneers, our dental crowns can also be fitted using the amazing process of CEREC dentistry.

A dental crown is a prosthetic cap that completely wraps over a damaged tooth or dental implant to protect it. It’s commonly used for patients who have broken or decayed teeth that have gone beyond the extent of requiring a filling. Crowns are also used for patients who have undergone a root canal procedure or have been fitted with dental implants.

Just as it has for veneers, CEREC dentistry has sped up the process of dental crowns. No longer do you have to wait weeks to be fitted for a crown over multiple dental visits. We can have it done same-day in as little as 1-2 hours.

Our qualified dentists will take 3d scans of your tooth and send them to the CEREC machine. Your new amalgam-free crown will be created with precision and immediately available to be placed on top of your damaged tooth or implant.

How CEREC Restorations Work With Dental Implants

Our CEREC dental restorations work perfectly for patients who have been fitted with dental implants.

Dental implants are metal posts that are inserted into the jawbone where a tooth is missing in order to re-establish the lost connection between jawbone and tooth. A dental prosthetic, such as a crown or bridge, is then placed on top of the implant for a fully-functional and permanent new smile.

Dental implants are vastly superior to dentures. While dentures are removable and can accelerate bone loss, dental implants are fixed into your jawbone for stability and comfort. Implants increase the presence of bone and support healthy gums and teeth.

We use CEREC dentistry to design the dental crowns and bridges that are used as a dental prosthesis over a dental implant.
